Youth Leadership Project

Our youth Leadership Project creates a supportive space for young people to learn, connect, lead and take an active role in their communities. At Unity Foundation, we believe that empowering young people is not just about building strong individuals—it is about shaping the future of our communities. Across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), youth face complex challenges, from navigating educational pathways and early career choices to finding a sense of belonging in an ever-changing world. Our Youth Leadership Project was established to give young people the platform, skills, and confidence they need to become active change-makers.

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

The Youth Leadership Project is designed for youth aged 15 to 24 from diverse backgrounds across Canada. Through interactive workshops, mentorship programs, and community-driven initiatives, participants are equipped with practical skills in team collaboration, public speaking, project management, and critical thinking.

Rather than traditional classroom learning, the initiative emphasizes real-world impact. Youth work alongside experienced mentors, community leaders, and local non-profits to address local challenges—ranging from community wellness and environmental sustainability to social inclusion.

Real Impact, Real Stories

One of our standout project initiatives involved a team of young participants in the GTA who identified a growing need for peer support and mental health awareness among local students. Guided by Unity Foundation mentors, the group organized a series of youth-led dialogue circles and creative workshops. What started as a modest local project grew into a multi-community effort, providing hundreds of young people with safe spaces to share their experiences and support one another.

“The Youth Leadership Project didn’t just teach me how to manage a project—it taught me that my voice matters and that I can make a real difference in my community,” shared one of our project participants.
